There was live telecast of 2022's US F-1 GP which I watched.
The anticipated battle between Sainz (pole) & Max evaporated after the first corner when Sainz was tapped by Russell, resulting in a radiator damage & had to pull out.
Russell was given a 5" penalty due to the incident. In my opinion, it was a racing incident as all cars were at high speed at the first corner, Sainz looked like that he was about to shoot out of the corner, he over-corrected, but Russell was just 1/2 length slower but right beside him. Anyway, Race Stewards decided o the penalty but I voiced my opinion.
From then on, there was no doubt that Max will win as he was 0.5" per lap faster than Hamilton's MB (in 2nd place), despite being stranded for 16" in the pits, with 16 laps remaining, due to equipment failure.
The final result: Max, Hamilton, LeClerc (starting from 12 due to engine change penalty!), then Perez.
I hope FIA's governing body should come out with a firm decision if RB cheated to gain an upper hand! |
