I went to "call chicken" tonight. Yup, this place called 咪走雞 opened up about a week ago and specialize in HK style chicken pot.
The restaurant is in a small plaza at Bayview and Major Mackenzie which isn't too far from my home. Renovation is done to give a retro HK effect. Maybe because they opened recently, the waiters and waitresses there were very eager to serve. It was an all-you-can-eat and they were constantly coming over to our table to top up the broth and give us more food.
The signature dish is the cheese pot which is kind of like a cheese fondue. I found it acceptable though I wasn't that impressed with the quality of cheese that was used. If you ever tried the Korean bbq with cheese dip over at Steeles / Yonge, its about the same quality. Definitely cannot compare to a cheese fondue you might get from a classy French restaurant. But then again, at $35/person AYCE, the quality is about par for the price.
Apart from the cheese pot, a regular Chinese hotpot is also included in the price, and nothing much to write about there. Just a typical hotpot setup with the usual meats and veggies and so forth.
Verdict: OK. Meaning I wouldn't highly recommend it, but wouldn't tell people not to go either.
Btw, I'm trying to cut down on my hunting (actually I want to quit but I think it'll be impossible), so I'll share more restaurant reviews instead if bros are interested in reading them. |
