Just in case that you are not aware, Taiwan is perhaps one of two countries in the world, in which the president is elected DIRECTLY into office by the people through "one-person-one-vote" system, i.e. a genuinely popularity vote system.

In Canada, the Party leader of the winning party is automatically the PM.

In USA, the candidate with the most delegate votes, gets the job, i.e. a candidate can win a popularity vote but lose in the delegate vote.

In Communist China & Russia, the Party Chairman is voted into office by a rubber stamp party congress.
