F-1 announced a $5 million penalty on RB for exceeding the spending cap on wind tunnel tests in 2021.
As we are all aware, 2021 was the first time Max won the Drivers' Championship via the last race of the season which was also the result of a ridiculous decision made by F-1's Director of Racing. The decision allowed 4 (?) cars which had already been lapped to unlapped themselves, so that Max with new tires can race with Hamilton with worn out tires, can have a deciding final lap for a sensational finish of the Season.
That was not even a fair fight, Max overtook within a few corners with new tires, & thus the championship.
First thing first, $5 million penalty was just to low!
The proper penalty should be: RB must return all prize monies won during the season, plus forfeiting all Constructor points, PLUS banning for at least one season. This, of course will result in lengthy law suits.
If F-1 authority has the guts, this has to be done, but I am prepared to bet, F-1 will not do it.
The next questions should now be, what about 2022 & 2023 seasons, did RB commit the same cheating crime???
I suspect exceeding the spending cap is only tip of the iceberg, engine capacity must have been exceeding as well so that RB cars are currently so much faster - 0.5"/lap than the nearest competitor!
