One of the top 4 major golf championships is the British Open, it is also the the oldest and the most prestigeous, and therefore is sometimes simply called The Open Championship, period.
This year's Open is held in Northern Ireland and starts today. As usual, there are 4 days of play. After 2 rounds (2 days), the field (players) will be reduced to +10 of the leader's score, i.e. if the leader's score is +/- 0 or par or even, and if your score is +10, you make the cut. If your score is +11 after 2 days, you don't make the cut.
I had a quick look at the "leader board", Rory Mclaroy's (check spelling) first hole was already +8. David Duval, a one-time top ranking US player finished the first round with a score of +14.
(About 20 years ago, David Duval was the world's #1 ranked player, but his wife of just 2 years (?) left him for another man which must have affected his mental state immensely, his play went downhill immediately and has NEVERr recovered.)
There will always be live telecast of the Open on SAT and SUN. Due to time difference, the tele coverage will start early.
